Our Team
Meet the people who create and facilitate all of Rainbow Allyship’s programming!
My name is Sydney (pronouns Ney/Nem/Nir). I am a queer, transgender, non-binary, asexual person with a deep passion for social justice. In December 2023, I published my first book, “A Pocket Guide to Pronouns”, which dives into different types of pronouns used in the rainbow community with helpful activities and short stories.
I am currently a doctoral candidate in Gender, Sexuality & Women’s Studies at Western University. In August 2024, I completed a Masters of Arts in Social Justice & Community Engagement at Wilfrid Laurier University, where my research focused on the importance of representation of queerness within young adult fiction. Prior to this, I obtained a Bachelor of Music (Honours) and a Bachelor of Arts in Women & Gender Studies at the University of Windsor, along with a minor in Political Science.
I have worked and volunteered with various queer non-profit organizations for the last five years, though I have been involved in social justice activism for much longer. In 2022, I ran for City Council in the Windsor Ward 7 municipal election. I have served on numerous committees, clubs, and organizations dedicated to issues of gender and sexual justice, equity and diversity, housing, mental health, and youth voices.
Throughout my many years as a motivational speaker and community educator, I have seen a deep passion from people who want to learn about how to better support queer and trans people. Thus, I am honoured to be able to share my knowledge and expertise as the Director and Founder of Rainbow Allyship.
A fun fact about me is that I have been playing piano for eighteen years; I also have a tortoiseshell cat named Natasha!
Chris Brouillard-Coyle (They/Them/Theirs)
My name is Chris (pronouns they/them/their). I am a gender non-conforming person with a deep passion for social justice. As an Anglican priest, I am blessed to walk with a wonderfully affirming and inclusive congregation that has provided advocacy support for the Queer and Trans community.
I am currently a doctoral candidate in Philosophy, Human Relationships with a specialisation in Pastoral Leadership at Martin Luther University College situated at Wilfred Laurier University in Waterloo, ON. My research focuses on inclusivity, and I hope to explore more deeply what can be learned from congregations who intentionally engage in affirming processes in relation to the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. Previously, I have completed a Bachelor of Mathematics, Bachelor of Education, Master of Divinity, and Master of Arts (Sociology). My thesis for my MA (Sociology) program explored the conversation between public health and Christian religion in relation to HIV/AIDS programming among youth in Kenya.
I have provided leadership for the regional Anglican Church (a.k.a. Diocese of Huron) on issues of Social Justice and the Environment for the last 15 years. This has included forwarding motions at annual general meetings, providing resources to support social justice and environmental education, and providing regular submissions to our regional church newspaper.
Throughout my years as a teacher, parent, partner, and priest, my heart for the marginalised has grown. I am deeply aware of the incredible gifts people have to share and the heartbreak that exists when people are prevented from living fully who they are. This drives my desire to support ongoing education especially in relation to the queer and trans community. It is a blessing to engage in this work with my progeny.
A fun fact about me is that my passion for social justice and the environment has inspired the creation of a substantial native plant garden. I particularly enjoy the birds, pollinators, and butterflies that are attracted to my yard and have been known to cause eye rolls from my family when I start talking about native plants.
